This picture is from Bill Lycette, a veteran grower. Isn't it a beauty ? It's just beginning to send up flowers. It is desirable for a vine to achieve a certain size before flowering, in order to support a very large pumpkin. The healthier the vine, like Bill's, the better the chance to support a very large pumpkin. Bill has plenty of room to support additional growth of his vine.
